USE OF CERTIFIED AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES IN ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE AS A METHOD OF CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE LANDSCAPE OF THE DEHESA ECOSYSTEM

Collaboration in the project “Use of Certified Agricultural Practices in Organic Agriculture as a Method of Conservation and Landscape Management of the Dehesa Ecosystem” financed by the Diputación de Salamanca. Direct contribution in the search and development of technologies and devices for the project and its subsequent implementation.

Use of, among other technologies: virtual fences, remote sensing applied to the agricultural sector and stress monitors.

Phase 1: Implementation of a virtual fencing system in a cattle farm in conversion to organic production. Virtual fencing is a technology that allows cattle to be guided while grazing, without the need for the direct intervention of a herder or the use of physical fencing.

Phase 2: Detect and monitor changes in livestock due to stress, and seek improvement in animal welfare through various innovative ecological practices.

Objective: to optimize livestock management in the mountains, monitor livestock stress and improve living conditions, improvement in feeding systems, traceability, prevention and detection of diseases, among others.

EXECUTION OF AN AGROECOLOGICAL COMPLEX IN RETORTILLO

Recovery of native varieties and implementation of sustainable production methods. The so-called minority varieties are in danger of extinction, however, they can and do offer numerous possibilities for the agricultural sector. This project has been designed with the aim of recovering and conserving the varietal heritage, evaluating it, characterizing it and documenting it.

RECOVERY OF NATIVE VARIETIES IN ARRIBES DEL DUERO VINEYARDS

New vineyard planting in San Felices de los Gallegos, within the Arribes del Duero Denomination of Origin. For the multiplication of the varieties, we had the collaboration of the Agrarian Institute of Castilla y León.

The project has vineyards of the following varieties: Juan García, Bruñal and Puesta en Cruz, thus achieving a recovery of the native varieties of vineyards thanks to old clones that guarantee the durability of a varietal diversity in clear decline.

All varieties have been grafted on a rootstock resistant to vine phylloxera (Dactylosphaera vitifoliae).

CONTROL OF ADVENTIOUS VEGETATION FOR PEDROSILLO CHICKPEA

Advice within the scope of the control of adventitious species in three chickpea farms, based on the results obtained through remote sensing with drones, whose information allows decisions to be made with greater precision, in order to optimize the yield of the different crops.

We participate in this project as subcontractors (technological partners) within the Operational Group directed by the Council of Ecological Agriculture of Castilla y León and Itagra.

Total area to be irrigated: 1.71 ha.
– Dripper density: 2222 drippers/ha
– Distance between lines: 1.50 m
– Frame of drippers: 1.50 x 0.3 m
– Number of irrigation sectors: 4 sectors
– Flow rate of each dripper: 0.7 l/h
– Irrigation frequency: 78 irrigations per sector and irrigation season
– Irrigation time of each sector: 5 hours/irrigation

EMU FARM

Preparation of an economic and feasibility study for the establishment of an emus farm in Cantabria. We are currently developing the execution project and the processing of aid and incorporation.
